hello, i have purchased a new HP laptop DV5 1215 TX
    http://www.shophive.com/shophive/Hp-Pavilion-DV5-1215TX-p-5197.pakistan.html
    [basically Intel c2d, 2.2ghz (t6600), nvidia 9600M GT]
when on its 6cell battery , it only gives about 1 hr 40 mins, regardless of use, i.e. playing crysis or running internet. Is it acceptable for these specs or is there genuinely a problem with the battery?.
in either case bluetooth , wifi was turned off, dvdrom was not in use as well.

It shouldn't give the same amount of battery life playing crysis as it does websurfing. That sounds off.

I wish I could help you, but something is wrong, that's for sure.

    Use the HP battery checker.

Also, you know how to switch from maximum performance to balanced/hp recommended right?

    thanks quickinferno,persnickety,
I have done some serious tests, and posted a thread here
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=374553

after each dischage, i when the laptop was charging , i ran HP battery checker , and on an average 1 out of 3 times, it shows that you should replace the battery, now i dont know how reliable this software is, it once saying its GOOD, then REPLACE than GOOD...makes me wonder its reliablity

when fully charged and on AC power, batterycheck ALWAYS showed GOOD status

Well, even though the software might not be reliable (I don't know, honestly), it suggests what we have all been thinking, doesn't it? I mean, that something is indeed amiss –or am I over interpreting things here?
