Man, I have been very active on these forums many years back. Finally made a come back from the dead..

I read through the forum here and almost all YouTube reviews, but only found a limited people talking about the coin whine. I wanted to know if there is any major issue with the 9370. I found the throttling to be on the very good side, with allowing 25w+ power delivery and dual fan/pipe configuration.

I am looking to purchase the Rose Gold version, i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD.

    I would appreciate any feedback!

Fan noise like you wouldn't believe me, returned it the same hour. Many people are complaining on Reddit and youtube.

They added a more powerful processor, but at the same time, for some reason, they decided to remove all the ports so that they can build a thinner machine. I am not surprised by the fact that the laptop is running like a plane.

The first day I had my 9360, it was very hot, there was fans and battery life was poor. Next day it all calmed down. Was there any background updates etc that might have been going on that you wasn’t aware of (won’t show a CPU spike)? Also did you fully do all the Microsoft and Dell updates and uninstall bloatware?

I’m curious to know if the laptop continues to do this after a day or two.

In the video I'm showing task manager; pretty much at 0% and still noisy. Took it to Microsoft store for a return they turned it on and nothing happened until they open youtube and it was on.

It really doesn’t have much to do with task manager as it does the cpu temps and the fan curve Dell built into the laptop.

The first xps 13 I had behaved the same way yours did. It was fine web browsing of any light task. But, once I started watching YouTube or Netflix the fans kicked in pretty hard. I would close down all the applications on the laptop and the fans would never turn down until I turned it off and back on again. Sad the hear they still have that problem. Love the look of those laptops.

I had the same....but they sent a replacement fan, after I had actually checked under the hood to see if it was mechanical or software - def mechanical.

It looks like some are shipping with a faulty dual fan....but once repaired, fan and system as a whole are working awesome!

I am coming from the 9360 (and before that, 9350....I change too often)....I love being able to charge from any side and with USB-C. I do use the TB16 dock at work (eBay for $75)....so I never have an issue with missing USB-A, but I also have an adapter that converts a USB-C to 3 USB-A + HDMI.

If I take away the initial faulty fan (which is clear you had the same in the video)....it has been an amazing laptop. I run a lot of data models and powerqueries within excel for work - this has been drastically cut down on time.

Also, I had the Samsung 970 Evo in the 9360....because the 9360 can only handle x2 PCIe lanes, it was 1800mbit read/write....once installed in the 9370, that jumped to 3400/2400.

Personally....I never heard the coil whine on any of the versions. I may just not have an ear for it.

hmm. I see the same responses on dell community about replacing the fan. At least dell is admitting and fixing the problem. It is still the best laptop in its category. Might pick up another one from Microsoft bit later.

Mine has been great ever since they fixed a keyboard issue where it wasn't recognizing all keypresses (fixed in BIOS 1.3.0 or something like that). Fan noise was an issue before then too, but things are quite a lot better for me now (only usually ramping up during high CPU utilization as expected).

    I love my 9370!
