I am very new at this forum Idea so I hope I am writing in the right place.
Also, English is not my first languish so forgive me for that.

How can I make my computer transmit audio through HDMI even when the display doesn't request it?

I recently bought an HDMI Converter, which allows you to "take" the sound from an HDMI cable straight to an audio receiver.
If you usually connect your PC to the TV with HDMI and the video and the audio come out both from the TV, the converter receives the HDMI cable from the computer and splits it to 2 outputs. One is HDMI, which you connect to the TV with a cable. And the 2nd one is an RCA output that connects to other speakers.

I tested the device and its working, but only if the screen is connected by HDMI input.
My PC's display has only DVI input and it seems to be the problem (I assume it's because the screen doesn't request audio from the computer).

    thanks

What version of Windows? Are you saying that you are using some sort of HDMI to DVI converter?

How is your computer connected to its display and to the HDMI converter?

    Windows 10 Pro.

The converter I am using let me "pull" the audio out of an HDMI cable. (search on google for "HDMI Converter HDMI to HDMI+audio")

My display inputs are only DVI/VGA, so I use a proper cable (HDMI on one side and DVI on the other). I connect this cable to the converter's output HDMI slot. and connect the PC to the converter's HDMI Input with HDMI cable.

DVI is incapable of outputting sound. You need a GPU with a dedicated HDMI connector.

    I know.

    the connections are: PC>HDMI>cable>HDMI>converter>HDMI>cable>DVI>display

I am not looking for buying new Items. because I think it can be solved with a program or anything else which will make the PC "think" something is requesting audio through the HDMI. because when I tested it with display with HDMI instead of the DVI, the converter worked and sound came out of it's RCA

No, it cannot be solved. Your current setup is incapable of outputting audio the way you want it.

Surprisingly, it is possible that dvi can carry audio.
You just need a card that is capable of doing it.

I tested on graphic cards later than amd/ati 4000 and nvidia 500 series.

If you look in registry there might be a way to force enable audio over HDMI.

My *HDMI* output did provide sound when I tested it with a different display.
the only DVI connection is at the screens input. And I don't want it to transfer any sound.

Could you explain with more details how to do it from the registry?

@Assaf Katz is there an option to select HDMI audio as sound output in Playback Devices?
