I am sure I am missing something, so forgive me. I have tried to search some sites and find the answer but I have had no luck.

Just got my new T61 today and I love it. I do have a question about the camera though. It is the integrated one and I am running Vista Home Premium.

Basically, how do I take a picture with it? My wife has a MacBook and she just has to open Photo Booth and click the button. Very easy, very simple. While I am not expecting that necessarily, I assume there has to be a way to take quick pictures, right?

Also, is there a guide for using the camera in general? For instance, when I click on the task tray icon, it only offers me the option of initiating Skype. I am new to all this video chat stuff, etc. and would love to find a little tutorial or guidance.

Thanks in advance. I appreciate it!

Did it come with some sort of CD or driver for the camera that doesn't come pre-installed? That's really all I can think of. And I have never used Skype but isn't there a way to take picture with it? Also, find out who the camera's manufacturer is, and you could probably download software from their website. I'm sure its a software issue.

It didn't come with anything (it is an integrated camera). There are user guides for the computer online, but they have not been helpful yet. I am still digging through them, but not very hopeful at the moment.

As far as Skype is concerned, while I have not used it, I have nothing against using it. It's just that you would think there would be some type of built in utility for using the camera. I didn't think I would have to utilize a third party program to take a picture with the integrated camera.

Oh well. I'll keep looking. Thanks.

You need to run an application which uses the camera. Everyone has their personal favourite. I use windows live messenger, which is downloadable for free from microsoft.

I'd be suprised if your new laptop with an integrated webcam didn't have some preinstalled, or enclosed basic snapshot or movie making application. Have a look under START-ALL PROGRAMS. You may find something there, possibly under utilities, or Webcam ??

Go into Computer and double click on Integrated Camera. You can take pictures from there; no software needed.

    Thanks for the replies.

As far as applications that use cameras, I would appreciate any suggestions people might have. It seems that MSN and Yahoo, etc. focus more ont he video chat as opposed to just taking a picture, which is what I am particularly interested in (well, my little girl is). Something simple with perhaps some of those filters, or something would be cool (again, my little girl).

Regarding clicking Computer and Integrated Camera, I am either missing it or it is not there. When I go to my Computer, I see the HD, the DVD Drive, Documents, pics, music, etc. down the left and Organize, Views, Properties, etc. across the top. Am I looking in the right place?

    Thanks!

    UPDATE:

    I found this: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-67413.html

This says how to take a picture with the camera, but my camera does not show up (nothing shows up).

So, I found someone else who had the same problem, apparently, and they downloaded a driver and it worked. I found the driver for my system at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-68918 but when I read through the READMe stuff, it turns out I already have that driver installed apparently.

Anyways, that's where I am. Closer but not really.

This is a simple utility for taking pics,

    http://www.yawcam.com/

I guess the Integrated Camera isn't in Computer for Vista. (I use XP)
