Go to another DMV office, you're bound to find one where they're super lax (unfortunately).
One up me? I was just saying it was easier because we didn't have a test.
I'm just joking around is all.
Try not to think of this test as big event, it really isn't. If you fail, you can always take it again, with no negative consequences.
Just think of the instructor as your date. It worked for me.
Do what I do for major events like tests: have an apathetic mindset. Works great for me, maybe it'll work for you.
^^^Never heard of the date plan.
Sometimes you get an idiot of an "instructor". You have to wait until you're 18 to get a license in Ma?
As a general rule of thumb, more developed/urban states, especially up North, require a driver to be at least 18. Most of the rural states tend to have more relaxed driving restrictions, generally allowing a permit at 14/15 and a license at 16. From what I've heard, it's mostly a historical carry-over from when sons were needed to drive trucks and tractors on the farm to help their dad (which also explains the long summer break some states allow as well; to be honest I'd like shorter, more frequent breaks).
I'm pretty sure it was 16 all across the country until only within the last ten years when a few states started changing it and now more have jumped on the bandwagon. Exact same thing with summer breaks. All are recent developments. It is just that the more populous and more urbanized states have changed these things first. So historical carry over it is most certainly not.
Besides, many states states (maybe most, I'm not really sure), even the "urban" ones, allow 14-15 year olds to drive farm equipment or farm trucks even if the legal driving age is 16 or 18.
It was exactly the same when the drinking age became 21. But then many of the "rural" states who had not yet adopted 21 as the new drinking age were forced to by the federal government.
Here in the Netherlands drinking low alcoholic drinks <15% alc. Is allowed when 16 y/o. When 18 you can drink what you want and get your license. I passed the first time and luckily had a great instructor!
