Search the M17x threads for CPU over clock. You will find info and results there from a few months back. The risk may not be worth the reward though.

Yea I am going to go ahead and say this isn't true at all ... case in point my sig. I am running at 3GHz at this point, and I haven't pushed all the way I don't think. So there is def a reason to OC the 2630.

Yeah iam wondering the same Shaden.
Is it true that then you can not get your default settings back unless you remove the bios battery?

For the 2820QM just pump up the BLCK (SLOWLY!). Mine stabilized at 104.98 boosted the clock to 3251 on all cores from the 29xx it was originally. Memory jumped up to 88x X 2 = 17xx from stock of 1600

People have reported 105 being stable on the 2630 as well. Change frequency, apply immediately X 2 in bios. Apply permanent reboot. Should cause the setting to stick.

FYI: CPU 2820QM @ 104.98, Vantage/3DMark scores on the 6990's were clocked at 840/1140 (in sig).
