I have just tried the HDMI output on my HP for the first time. The TV I am outputting to is a bit odd, it has a res of 1680*1050 as far as I can find out. Res that windows will let me select for it are all 16:9 all the way up to 1920*1080 which will dispa but of course things look fuzzy.

Can anyone tell me why, even on my laptop monitor, there are no 16:10 resoltions available?

I have the latest drivers from HP.

    Thanks

I've had bad luck with HDMI to HD TVs. I ended up using a 50ft VGA cable and got far superior results.

That doesn't answer your question though!

If you can, try toggling the laptop display off (function key?), and use only external monitor. Then go into ati control panel as JCMS suggested and tweak the display size and then use Overdrive to fine tune it.

afaik you can dwnscale it to say 1280x720 if your card/driver will not accpet the native resolution of your hdtv.
not optimal but it should work
