i’ve reassembled about 4 times but have never had this issue. The top half of the motherboard where you are supposed to screw a silver screw on the right side of the metal piece will not tighten. I’ve tried all of the silver screws. It will tighten if I take the motherboard off and screw into the hole by itsself though.

    Any advice?

I’m considering just using electric tape but id rather not if i can avoid it.

I opted to use one of the black screws and that worked. Issue solved.

Had this exact issue on the HDD caddy. Was putting the black screws where the silver ones went and could not for the life of me figure out what was wrong because they were going in, just loosely. Finally decided to use the silver screws and I couldn't believe it worked. Service manual's greyscale didn't do any favors.

The hdd caddy uses the longer black screws.

Err no, the HHD caddy for the 2.5" most definitely uses the silver screws, not black in all the R4 and R3's I've worked on anyway

In all that i worked with they are black.... Only the battery screws and the screw of the TB3 port cover where silver in my case. I labeled all screws before disassembly.

I wouldn't want to use the wrong screws, you'll thread the holes!

Hmm they might use different color screws for different systems. Mine have been black, but also in the 15inch version they only use 3 screws for the HDD caddy.

In general I jsut check the sizing of the screws itself instead of the colors because I think you cant depends on the colors in this case. There are only 2 silver screws in my entire system and those are also a smaller size.
