D should call out first, since in front of him is C and B, and he can see both of their hats.

Fujitsu S6210: PentiumM 1.6Ghz 1GB DDR333 RAM 7K60 Hard Drive DVD RW Drive...
What more do I need for this thing?

But how can D be sure what color hat he has? All he knows is that there is 2 black hats and 2 white hats, with B and C having 1 white and 1 black. For all he knows, he could possibly have either color hat on. He can't be sure of either... can he?

    stupid puzzle [}:)]

You've just gotta be logical about it...

Right - A and B can only see a wall so it can't be them.

Now D can see two people with hats on right - now if they were both one colour then he would be the other right - so he would cry out... but here's the clever bit. He dosen't - now this way the guy in the middle C knows that the guy in front of him IS NOT the same colour as he is because the guy behind him hasn't said anything... Was there a prize for figuring that out or something...
