So most people here know I am having constant issues with my iPhone connectivity to LTE service. I tried something the other day that has me baffled. I am thinking about going to Lucky mobile to cut my bill in 2/3s compared to what I have now. They only have 3g service as a "budget" carrier. I switch my ip11 to 3g to test how fast my phone would be on 3g. 2 things I noticed. 1. speeds in real world usage are really no different between LTE and 3g for streaming, surfing and general usage. and 2. I have no issues with service compared to when my phone was on LTE where I would be dropping calls, have long pauses in audio during calls. drop all service while in certian areas on my daily drive. In exact areas my iPhone would drop all service and not return until it was restarted. Since switching my phone to 3g, these issues have disappeared.

Do you think this is a hardware issue (my assumptions) or a carrier issue (highly unlikely since my samsung has no issues in the same areas on LTE).

More like weak cellular connection on 4G VoLTE. If you're on Wifi VoWiFi will certainly help in reducing audio dropouts.
If the iPhone 11 has Intel modem the signal strength will be pathetic compared to your Qualcomm Samsung device.

I agree. It's almost guaranteed to be bad reception / tower issue. 3g is being decommissioned, I wouldn't even consider going there.
Try a cell signal app which will show you what tower your on / band / actual strength. I'm not sure whats available on IOS, but I use Signalcheck Pro on android.
Then consult cellmapper.net and see what your tower situation is like where you live.

What gets me is that my samsung tablet has no issues what so ever. Solid all around my town. my iPhone keeps droping lte. on 3g it's OK. Not as good as my samsung tablet however.

Then check macrumors iOS firmware changelogs which has modem revision and more likely you might get OTA carrier profile update.

Yeah, thanks for the help but we are gone from iPhone. Moving on to better android platform for us. Everything we use is based in android and windows. No need for the walled garden of apple junk anymore.
