The coating on the wrist rest and cover on my G74SX has become softened and sticky. Anyone know a good solvent to remove the coating without damaging the plastic under it ? Asus tech help has no clue. Thanks.

i have removed crappy rubber coatings with alcohol and wd40 and a crap ton of elbow grease. It comes off slowly but surely. Just don't use acetone.
Some people don't remove the rubber, but rather use talc or baby powder to make it unsticky temporarily.

and this is why I avoid rubber coated items. They're all guaranteed to be sticky after a few years.

The new GL503 laptop has one version that is fully rubberized, guaranteed to be sticky in 6 years.
