The ASUS G73J caddies do not fit the G53J properly. Notice also the caddies do not come with the necessary screws.

When you say that it doesn't fit properly, do you mean that it doesn't work at all in the G53?

I'm not trying to be irritating, it's just that I have both a G53JW-XA1 and an Intel SSD in the mail and I'm hoping to do the install once and be done. (fingers crossed)

    Thanks for the help.

If you have a hammer, pliers and a saw, plus the screws, you might get it to work, but the tabs to secure it are in a different place on the ASUS G53JW, so you might as well use duct tape, velcro strips and a little bubble gum. :)

I was able to find an ebay listing for the G73 bracket depicting it installed in the G53:

If the correct screw for that gap is an M2.5x5, would something longer (eg: M2.5x10) work with a spacer? Is a spacer of that size common?

...Perhaps some gum would work??

Using a longer screw with a spacer will impede putting the bottom cover back on.

    If it fits...wear it. But if it doesn't fit...it doesn't fit :(

I had to bend the tabs down to a 45 degree angle on one and 30 on the other. I dont like it so I ordered the right caddy from Asusparts this was before my G53 Crashed :(

I PM'ed Brian@ASUS on the ROG forums and he said the estore should have 82x G53 caddies in stock; however, I don't see them.

I sent a message to the estore about it. For now, I'll probably just go with cardboard.

    And gum.
