Hello everyone and thank you very much for the tutorial!

Question, I just ordered an AUO B156HW01 V7 from ebay. It was salvaged from a Dell XPS L501x. The LCD panel is also bundled with the stock LCD LVDS cable from Dell. To my understanding, the stock HP 1376x768 LVDS cable will not work with the screen unless i get a compaitble 1920x1080 cable. Will the bundled cable work with my HP DV6 laptop or is HP really picky on their LCD LVDS cables? Are all cables physically the same? Thanks guys.

I personally wouldn't try that, they are all different iirc.

    Hi ! Happy new year 2014 !

I have a DV6-6B63sf and I just received my fhd cable from waresphere (50.4rn10.021 or 656805-001). Can anyone confirm that this is a working 1080p cable ?Are the 656805-001 and the 665305-001 cables identical and interchangeable ?

    Thanks !

A late answer, but yes. They are compatible. The HP Part Surfer website will suggest you to buy the 665305-001 if you search for the 656805-001.

I just came across this thread here and now I want to replace my crappy lcd of my DV6 too. But the thread seems dead and the AUO screens are discontinued for a long time now. All offers on ebay are just offering "compatibe" screens, so not the exact one described in their title..

Which fullhd screens are recommendable now?
I looked at panelook.com aand there are only a few compatible left:
    http://www.panelook.com/modelcompare.php?ids=688,683,16512,5707,5704,20471,12286

    These are also discontinued.

Technically, with a proper cable, all panels should be compatible. Be it HD, HD+ or FHD.

In real life, I do sometimes run into cases where some panels just do not work with certain laptop models. I might get no picture at all or image could be shifted partially out of screen, weird stuff like that and those panels are spec-wise compatible.

Recommendable panels is another matter. Color reproduction, viewing angles, brightness... That's where peoples experiences are needed. Without those panels are just numbers.

I've replace my screen cable and screen to 1080p but screen died recently. Is it possible to replace with 1440p or 1800p screen?

I have a HP Pavillion DV-6 3101tx, not satisfied with the 1366 x 768 screen, is it possible for a swap to a FHD panel? In default, the laptop comes with a touch display, I think I can still get a new panel and get a bezel for the non-touch version to snap it on. Is it possible? If yes, what are the latest parts that I should get? I've read above that the AUO panel is long gone, what's next best?
