You might have received your new laptop and noticed this message "Bitlocker waiting for activation" in Control Panel > BitLocker Drive Encryption

This may be because you quickly uninstalled whatever pre-installed security solution that came with your laptop (ie. McAfee Security) before the drive encryption has completed so it gets stuck on that message.

Now, whether you want to actually encrypt your drive or not is totally up to you but first, we need to get rid of that message anyway.

    1) Press the Start Menu Button > Windows System Command Prompt (right click on it and choose More > Run as administrator)

    2) In the command prompt window, type: manage-bde c: -off then hit Enter

    3) You drive will not be decrypted, this will take a long time so leave your laptop on and ensure it doesn't go into sleep mode by changing the time to sleep in Control Panel > Power Options

    After the decryption is over:
