First try the 7970 and see if it actually works and no extra work will be required.
Second, if the card shows no display but boots into windows then you will be required to flash the vbios of the card. Since you have sold your 6990 and cannot enter bios screen of your notebook I am not sure how you can attempt to fix the card. Sure, you can make usb flashable and put files onto it via another computer but I am not sure how you can enter your notebook bios screen and change priority list to boot from usb first. If you find yourself in this situation you probably will need to find someone who has similar notebook and attempt to flash via their notebook or send it back to seller and request them to do it assuming they too have a P1XXHM notebook.

    Good luck.

Hello Guys ... I need you and your information.
    I modified the G73JH installing the Clevo 7970M and I upgraded the CPU to a i7-940XM ...
the card works with the VBIOS enduro off.
My problem is with the power, the motherboard reduces the workload of the video card even when the CPU is under stress. Surely the motherboard also reduces the load on the CPU because both exceed 150 watts provided.
I have a 240 Watt power supply DELL.
I need to modify my VBIOS for G73JH
    I have to lower the voltage ... I have a VBIOS 850/1200 1.00 Volts.
How can I change the voltage?
    Thanks to all

i wouldnt recommend flashing a 670m with an amd vbios ;) also, atiflash as a vbios flash tool wouldnt work on an nvidia card.

no trouble really. in case it doesnt come preflashed, heres what u do:

    - take out all hdds and the optical drive, that way when u plug in ur usb stick it will automatically be in first boot priority

    - install ur 7970m

    - prepare the usb stick on another computer using the autoexec.bat as described in the OP

    - blind-flash and enjoy :)

both the stock and ov versions are identical except for the gpu core voltage. in ur case i would flash the stock one first and check how ur OC clocks and temps are. only when temps are good and ure not happy yet with OC clocks would i go to an ov vbios :)
