Just a thought on the second owner being able to use the trade in, upgrade scheme:

If MSI had rolled out actual MXM upgrade cards, would they have turned down the sale of that card to a second owner of a GT series notebook? (Of course not it's all extra profit).

So they should not be excluded from the trade in, upgrade offer that has been put in place because MSI failed to deliver the MXM cards.

I hope the class action takes this in to account when presenting it's case.

Anybody in the UK got any offers yet? Got an email a week ago saying they were waiting for a response from HQ.

I've been waiting a month for MSI UK's response from HQ.

Exactly as I expected unfortunately. Hopefully that carrier pigeon gets back from HQ with some prices soon.

Also, I have a question for you guys!

What laptop is good that would be upgradeable like we thought with the MSI?

Looking for something for the future

    Desktop.
Now I don't believe that there are any laptops that 100% will be upgradeable. Even MSI failed to keep the word they gave for upgradeable laptops.

I went the route of Prema BIOS partner HIDevolution Clevo P870DM3 with desktop components since MSI has failed me.

It's important to note that this is not an alternative to the upgrade path, but an alternative option as a laptop. I mention this because in the wake of disappointed users, people might get the wrong idea that the clevo will be upgradeable and might face a similar situation next gen.

That being said, you got a great machine there, and Prema is what makes it all the better. Thanks to him, we have better performing GPUs and will surely give you optimizations and added functions to your laptop :)

We really need standards to trully have an upgradeable laptop. We are finally in a position to do so, becase we have two different laptop produts: thick powerful and thin and light powerful. The thick laptops should definitely evolve to fully adopt a standard set of GPU sizes and connectors with additional power, as well as desktop CPU. The thin and lights can still use full soldered mobile components, as thats what their target market wants.

The Tornado F5 from MSI shows what a properly made 15inch from MSI can do with a desktop CPU, so we can only hope they can adopt the idea for future products :) A GT62/73/83 variation with desktop CPU would be amazing.

Thank you for clarifying. My apologies all for the misunderstanding.. This route was taken due to the disappointment. Had I known of this change I would have gone this route last November.
