Every GT80 generation has been hard to get at release. It calms down after a while.

With the trade-in MSI will likely need to build more than expected :)

That's not what they told me when I called. They said they can unregister the laptop then the new owner can register the serial.

    Hey!, that's great :)

Who told you? The MSI support, or? Did you do it?

That's not what I was told, but that was a while ago.

I think it would be a good idea to get it in writing, something that can be re-posted here. So when any of you get a written reply, please post it so we can all use it as a reference.

I think it's important to ask MSI and get an ok from them personally / directly before selling your laptop to someone else - and it sounds like you can swap ownership to them - give it a try :)

Anyone have news about whether the trade-in only works for the original owner, or if it's transferable?

MSI support told me, but it was over the phone. This was fairly recently, around 3-4 months ago or so.

No, my understanding is that to exchange your GT72 for a GT72VR or GT73VR, you will "sell" your old laptop to MSI and get a discount on the new one, so in the end you will send your GT72, pay 2000€ and receive a GT73VR. As I found the GT73VR they offer on a Deutsch website, and the price is around 2800€, it means they value his old GT72 only 800€ which is a scandale (but again it depends of the specs of his GT72, maybe I'm a bit too strong in my words).

But still the price is way to high!
They are going to keep my old laptop and still make more money from using the parts and all! This is just a RIP off

If maybe i had to pay like 800 euro then it would be ok but they want me to shell out 1399€
