I recently peeked on a Post here, in Notebookreview and said something that the MSI GT70 2PE CPU can be upgraded.
    how much can it?
It actually has an Intel i7 4800MQ I think.
can I upgrade it to... well, expecting a sound NO, how about an Intel i7 8700k? or 7700HQ? or 6700HQ?

    can someone help me out?

Maximum you can get is an i7 4940MX. There is no possibility for your MB to accept non Haswell CPUs.

I have the very same laptop as yours and I have decided to update it to an i7 4910MQ (my laptop came with an 4710MQ installed on it). I refused to proceed with the MX CPUs because of their higher TDP. The 4710 hots a lot and the 4910 even more. Also, the stupid NOS 180W limitation prevented me from pushing my laptop further.

The performance of the 4910 is very good (at pair with 7700HQ with the goodie of extra 2MB of cache, very important for some tasks). The 4940 must perform a little better, is factory overclockable and I think it has an extra set of parallelization instructions not included in the MQ/HQ variants. And I also suppose it must get noticeably hotter.

Maybe there is someone over here with the 4940 and can share his experience. For my part, with the 4910 pasted with GC extreme and with Fujipoly pads I have good temps not going higher than 76° with fans at 100%. When idling I am at 35° and doing light stuff (browsing files or internet) I am at 40°. I am definitely satisfied with its performance.

Will it improve or be bearable to have a 4940, if I got the thermal grizzly TG-C-001-R?
I chose it for the thermal transference of 73W/mK
I suppose, the bigger the number, better transference.
