I have a problem where my headphones only work if it is already plugged into the laptop's 3.5mm headphone jack upon booting up. Unplugging the headphones would automatically switch back to the speakers, but plugging again subsequently does not switch back to the headphones.

I am using Windows 10, and I have the Realtek Audio Driver v6.0.8945.1, Nahimic Driver v1.7.2 and Nahimic 3 App installed. I haven't installed the control panel, and it would be great if anyone without that installed can tell me headphones will work if they are plugged in after boot up.

Under the sound property in Windows 10, the only output device is "Speakers (Realtek(R) Audio)" even when I am running on headphones. I can't quite remember if this is how it was on my last Windows 7 laptop, but I am sure is that on my old laptop, Windows 7 would automatically recognise and show a notification whenever I plug something into the headphone jack, and by default switch to it even without the Realtek control panel so I am hoping that is not the issue.

Remove all the drivers, uninstall Nahimic and the Realtek Audio Console, then remove the driver on Device Manager, reboot and let windows install the Realtek driver, then install Nahimic and see how it behaves.

Or just go into Realtek Audio Console disable Audio Jack Sense via the settings cog, close Realtek Audio Console and re-open it then re-enable Audio Jack Sense.

Then when you unplug and replug in your headphones if will auto switch again.

    It's a common issue.

Glad I helped if you need updated Nahimic drivers with Nahimic and Realtek control apps included check out my posts on Nahimic 3 for unsupported hardware in MSI sub forum on here. It has all known issues and solutions to fixing them.

Support all Nahimic 1/2/3 MSI systems with a nifty installer that does everything for you, so long as instructions is followed.
