So guys I had pretty much decided on purchasing the GS65. I went and looked at it and the build quality is really leaving me with a bad feeling since I tend to keep my PCs for a long time. The GE73 Raider RGB seems to be better built than the GS65 but the GE series is a lower series than the GS series.

I'm having a hard time deciding between the 2 because the GE has the full 1070 Vs the max q in the GS65, but the GE lacks the thunderbolt plug the GS has , and it has a TN panel Vs the GS65s IPS screen.

Is the screen on the GE a lot worse than the GS, and do you think it will hold up significantly better In terms of build quality in the long run than the GS? Also are the thermals on the GE a lot better than the GS? Which one would you guys say is a better PC?

the 120HZ TN panel is faster, has better color coverage etc. That being said, TB 3 gives you the possiblity to use eGPU to run cards such as GTX 2080 TI. Build quality wise the GS 65 isnt that bad, it's mediocre and will last.

Is there a reason you aren't looking at the GE63 as well? Seems a little odd to look for a thin and light 15" and a far larger 17".

Size is not super important to me but I don't want anything as big as the GT63. The main reason I chose the GE73 though was because for some reason I thought it had better speakers than the GE63, and also I want to customize it by HIDevolution and they don't carry 1070 version of the GE63. If not then yeah the 63 would be in the mix too.

I wouldn't call the GE series "lower". They're usually about the same hardware but in a bigger chassis, which to answer one of your questions typically has better cooling than the GS.

Thank you! Have you seen them side by side? Is the screen on the GS65 better, and also is the USB C port on the GE63 thunderbolt 3 capable?

From the looks of it the USB type C is not Thunderbolt compatible on that GE63 unit.

What do you want to do with it?

I've had the GS65 for a few months and overall it is ok. It is a little wobbly and flexible, but it holds up just fine. I don't mind carrying it.

I got it to use as a machine-learning mobile workstation and demo-giving machine. The GPU works for that.

I'd recommend having it re-pasted by one of the authorized online vendors. Mine wasn't bad out of the box. One of the other people in my office just got one and can't even run Windows One-Note without the fans going nuts.

Its just gonna sit on my desk most of the time. Watch videos, edit videos, maybe a little CAD every so often, play games here and there, and browse the net. Want it to last quite a while and not get outdated though. The GS65 is really tempting because of the nice screen and thunderbolt 3 plug which I'm thinking I could potentially use to boost graphical capabilities. My current PC has a horrible screen and I don't want to make the same mistake and buy another PC with a bad screen. The GE73/GE63 is tempting because of the full size GPU, better cooling, easier to upgrade, better build quality, and better keyboard.

If ease of transport is less of a concern, I'd still lean towards the GE.
