Hey all, I've been out of the laptop buying scene for a while. My older Dell Inspiron 15 3567 is dying out on me for the second time, so I am in the market for a new machine. I am planning on starting graduate school within the environmental field within a year or two, and enjoy moderate gaming from time to time. I'd like a laptop that could run some games, but also be suitable for research and analysis programs.

I had my eye on two laptops already. An Asus TUF Gaming Laptop 15.6" with Intel Core i5. 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD, and a Dell XPS 13 with the same specs but with a 10th Generation Intel Core Processor. Both are on sale for Black Friday at the moment and fall in my price range. Would either of these be acceptable, or do you have any other recommendations?

    Thank you!!
