How is heat around keyboard and mouse area, can you feel it on the surface after heavy gpu/cpu load? Also, how is the underside as well can this be used in your lap for surfing/light use?

Oh, man. You guys can't tell how much I (and a lot of other v2 owners, I'm sure) am envying you right now. A GPU that's twice as powerful AND runs less hot? I'm extremely jealous of you guys. I can just imagine NVIDIA slowly whispering into my ear, "It didn't hurt THAT much. ;)"

All jokes aside, I've had the v2 for about 3 months now, and I absolutely love it. If the v2 is already this awesome, then the v3 is going to be a real winner. Enjoy your new Maxwells!

Cakefish, can you try the benchmarks without a cooler please? Many people (including me) would not use one.

Yes please, results with no cooler. I don't care if you prop it up a bit, I do that with all my gaming laptops by habit, just no cooler.

I'm a bit late to the party, but while looking for something else, I stumbled upon this piece that has several games benchmarked with the 980M at 2560x1600, along with some comparisons with gaming at 1080p. Should be pretty helpful for those looking for an apples-to-apples comparison.

And about those CPU thermals... If someone would send me a sample I'd be glad to go to town with it like I did with my Clevo. :D OK maybe not if it was a loaner, but seriously I think a combination of

    1. undervolting the CPU
    2. lapping the CPU heatsink to a mirror finish
    3. applying Liquid Ultra paste

should help shave 10C off the CPU with some luck.
