I have some backlight bleeding, espacially on the upper size (almost all wintdh, directly below the bezel. Looks like mist/cloud). I think that there ma be some pressure from the bezel or screws.

Do You guys have any idea how to remove the bezel ? There is very little information about this laptop on the internet,

    Here You have it:

You need to remove the 2 screws behind the rubbers on the bottom, and then, with something soft or credit card, You need to remove the bezel (there are only tapes and some "plastic holders").

Bleeding was caused by display itself, so I've changed the panel to Lp156wf1- tlb1 and it's working.

When You do this, do it slowly, and of course You are doing it at your own risk.

If anybody have any question about this laptop, ask here.

I can only say, that the biggest thing about this laptop is it's size and cooling system - max 86 Celsius (187 F) on i7 - tested by pcsx2 and GT4, Left 4 dead 2, Tomb Raider Underworld, Saints row 3, TDU2.

    GTX660m - max 72 Celsius (162 F).

Under the Furmark the temps are like in the notebookcheck.net review, but You won't achieve it under normal gaming.

So I was thinking of picking this unit up. I would have to ship it from US to canada (not sold here) but I was hoping to get a honest opinion temp, speed, feel, etc. msata is important to me I want to add a super fast ssd 256gb or bigger. DO you know if it has a limit of a 1 terabyte drive in the other sata drive bay? ANy thoughts on the no backlit keyboard issue? I added one myself on my sony vaio 136 f series. I sure will miss it. I'd like to add a backlit keyboard to this one but... I may be dreaming. ANd chomik7 is right talk about no love in the P2542g club department. It's like it has all these awesome specs and no one has this baby.

    I got max 89 C on i7 while playing 4 hours of l4d2.
A can agree with notebookcheck.net review, the laptop is not quiet, especially under heavy load. But the cooling system is well designed. It has a lot of holes under to suck the fresh air (also under the vents.). And keeps temps below 90 while gaming (on 15,6 machine!). When I stressed CPU and GPU to the max (Everest and Furmark) it got 97 on i7 and 80 GPU (30 min). No throttling. So it's basically the same like in a notebookcheck review, You wont get those temps while gaming.

Build quality is, generally speaking, good. I love the aluminium palmrest. Only weaknesses here ale the service flap (cheap plastic - be carefull, take it out slowly - hinges of service flap are not so solid) and the bezel (weak plastic thing again). Gigabyte should have used more screws on the service flap and bezel. Beside that, it's all good ! Even the bluray drive is not mounted loose-ly.

Desing - the yellow colour is perfect, and the laptop looks tottally like a sports car ! Love it !

I can suggest buing with excaliberPC.(US, Fremont) I bought there, they shipped it to Poland, They were very helpful and the price were good.

I have 128 ssd/750gb variant. Are there any Hdd drives with more than a 1 tb capacity? I will try to put here WD scorpio blue with 1 tb in near future. No idea of limit, hard to get any info on that model.

Theres only WD green with 2tb or 1,5 tb, but it's 15mm thick, I think it wont fit.

Yeah, missing of the backlight keyboard is a big flaw. I never thought of replacing it, I guess it would be hard, this laptop is not so popular (because of the price? It's 1200$ for i7, gtx660m, full hd, ssd, bluray writer, cool desing and cooling system - not so bad). I have no idea how to start to change the keyboard. Are there any Gigabyte models with backlit?

To sum up, the keyboard is very comfortable, just with no backlit.

Yeah Gigabyte, it's not very popular, and not so easy get. But with a good copy it's worth it.

Can any of the moderatos change the subject to Gigabyte P2542g - general thread or something?
