I left my Gigabyte P34WV5 on overnight with the screen on and when I went use it today the screen would not turn on. I don't think the screen has died because when I click the display on/off hotkey (FN+F6) the display will flash on for a second before turning off. When I plug in an external display, it stays on without issue.

I literally tried unplugging and replugging in everything on the motherboard hoping it was some weird issue but nothing worked. I've tried reseting the CMOD battery, but that didn't help. I also unplugged and replugged the display connector to the motherboard, but that didn't do anything.

There is this one connector that also come off the display that I didn't unplug because the connection was not the standard plug and it didn't look unpluggable. I don't know what it is, but could that be the issue.

Has anyone else had a similar issue/suggestions because I think I've tried everything and its driving me nuts.. The closest I've found is https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/436143/Gigabyte+P34W-V3+Backlight+Wont+Turn+On
but unlike them I can't see the display if I shine a light so I assume it's not a backlight issue.

I just realized that I do have a backlight issue. I had a dark desktop image so when I shined the light on before I couldn't see anything.

I've looked up how to fix backlight issues and it seems like the issue is either my lcd connector cable or something called an inverter which contains a backlight bulb? If I can get my screen to flash on when I toggle the button, could it even be either of those issues?

I was thinking maybe the backlight switch is stuck in the off position, but I can't find the magnetic switch on my screen. Does anyone know where that is located?

My suggestion is that to send the unit back to call center for further checking

I am no longer under the warranty. And I cannot afford to go without my laptop for over a week. So that would not be an option.
