I made a thread a little while ago but my situation has changed a bit. My computer, which had been giving me problems for a while, completely died today. This means I need a new computer immediatly. I was thinking about a Sager NP2090 but it seems they're not shipping out until late July/early August and I can can't be stuck without a computer. I was also considering the Sager NP5970 (is this shipping out immediatly or does this have the same shipping issues?), the Asus C90, the Asus G1S, etc. I could really use some help. Thanks in advance.

    1) What is your budget?
    $2000-2500

    2) What size notebook would you prefer?

    No preference.

    3) Please select your country's flag as a post icon and tell us what country are you buying this in.

    United States

    4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

    No preference.

    5) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?

Gaming, photoshop, surfing the web, writing, etc.

    6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?

I will occasionally (about 3 times a year) take it on a plane ride, but not to use it (I usually just stow it at my feet). I also sometimes need to take it over to someone else's house.

    7) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?

Currently I only really play Warcraft 3 and Civilization 4 though I'd like to be able to play some future games that come out (most importantly Starcraft 2). I realize these aren't taxing games but I'd like to have the option available
to me to play more intensive games.

    8) How many hours of battery life do you need?

Doesn't matter. I almost always use it plugged in.

    9) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?

    Online is fine.

    10) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista), Mac OS, Linux, etc.

    Vista.

    11) Would you prefer standard or widescreen?

1680x1050 would be the sweet spot. Higher is fine.

    12) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer?

If Standard: UXGA - 1600x1200 - Very small text and graphics icons, you can fit lots of stuff on the screen.

    If Widescreen: No preference.

    13) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?

I'd prefer non-glossy but this isn't an important factor.

    Build Quality and Design

    14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?

    No.

    15) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last?

As soon as possible. 3-4 years.

    Notebook Components

    16) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 200GB?

I need at the very least 80GB.

    17) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a DVD-ROM, DVD-CD/RW or DVD-RW drive?

    At least DVD-ROM.

If you have no preference, the best notebook for the money that you have listed is the:

This will be the best 17" gaming notebook for the money for 2007-2008.

No rip-off pricing like others that will be in its class, Dell XPS, Alienware, etc..

Does it ship immediatly though? That's the only thing I was worried about with the Sager 5790.

They are shipping out today as already stated but they have more of the glossy WUXGA version so those will be out faster.

    the WUXGA is amazing screen.

give you more workspace on screen and amazing for games and 1080p movies. :)

once you go WUXGA you dont go back... thats what I feel now with mine... the resolution just spoiled me.
