You can ask reseller questions in the Clevo/Sager section and tag any company rep you want. @Meaker@Sager Is the Sager specific rep.

Their upgradability varies somewhat throughout their line up. From the easier Clevo naming standpoint P7XX and P8XX models use deskstop cpus and have MXM gpus. P9XX and P6XX don't.

So for the most popular models the P650 and P950 machines are too thin for upgrade-able cpu and gpus. The P750, P775, and P870 are all fully upgrade-able. But everything I mentioned has removable storage and ram slots. The displays are also change-able if desired.

Well, i would like to correct you here, lpc digital, the reseller of sager notebooks, IS A @Prema PARTNER! After you order a sager through lpc digital, they will do remote installations of bios after you recieve the laptop. So yeah, you can get prema bios ON sager!

    No, thats not true.
Cpu dies are different from GPU(reason why AI processing is done on gpus because of its tensor proc handeling). Gpu draws mre power, and more heat.
Even a max q 1080 will heat up more then 7820hk(4.4ghz).

Same can't be said for desktop cpus tho!

Correct. I still don't see it as a valid choice in this case as they don't currently offer delidding, which is basically the only way to not have screaming high temps on these units. Prema bios + stock paste or even IC Diamond is not going to be a great time.

If you're looking at a notebook that costs 3 grand plus, I see no reason to not get something like that, saying it's too expensive is kind of moot...

If you want to delid yourself that's fine though.

Let's not continue that here, there are better places to talk about it and it was already addressed by previous posts.

Remember that the GPUs probably will need some repadding too, depending on the fit of the heatsink.

This guide seems to place portability over performance. A max Q laptop should definitely not be at the top when gaming is the main priority.

Just an update... So I see we have lots of shiny new machines coming out from the left and right.

I'm planning on redoing this guide in a more illustrous form at some point in the near future that'll cover more models and put the final decisions more in your hands. I'm torn if I should do it for 8th gen or wait for the new gpus...

Lots of new models though... New MSI GS65s, GT63s, G703s, AWs, Clevo P950s, Aero 15X, that thing from Xioami... Even Samsung came out with something...

I'm pretty skeptical of some of these mobile i9s claims... 5Ghz with reasonable temps seems unlikely...

The next guide will definitely have a section for Max Q based laptops...

    Cheers!
