I'm trying to sell a mac that I got from a relative, along with my PC to get a new laptop that can go between houses (after I got my desktop my parents divorced, so now I have two houses, and one usable computer.)

    ==========

    General Questions

    1) What is your budget?
Trying to sell my desktops, so probably about $800

    2) What size notebook would you prefer?
    d. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
    e. Desktop Replacement; 17"+ screen

    3) Where will you buying this notebook? You can select the flag of your country as an indicator.

    4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
    a. Like:
    b. Dislike: My experience with acer is that they get unbearably hot.

    5) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed?
    sure.

    6) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?
playing games, music, etc. school. IMO if it can handle the games, it can probably handle anything else I would be doing.

    7) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both?
It will most likely be on my desk.

    8) Will you be playing games on your notebook? If so, please state which games or types of games?
AoEIII, AoEO, TF2, BF2. It would be super to be able to run these at near-max settings. I'm thinking that probably won't be a problem for all of them besides TF2 maybe.

    9) How many hours of battery life do you need?
It will be plugged in most of the time.

    10) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK?
    either way is fine.

    11) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista or Windows 7), Mac OS, Linux, etc.
God forbid I have to use mac OS. windows FTW.

    Screen Specifics

    12) From the choices below, what screen resolution(s) would you prefer? Keep in mind screen size in conjunction with resolution will play a large role in overall viewing comfort level. Everyone is different. Some like really small text, while others like their text big and easy to read. Click here for Screen resolution information.
I don't care much. HD seems standard now.

    13) Do you want a Glossy/reflective screen or a Matte/non-glossy screen?
    Either is fine. Glossy=Classy

    Build Quality and Design

    14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
    somewhat.

    15) When are you buying this laptop?
    within a few months hopefully.

    16) How long do you want this laptop to last?
    as long as it can.

    Notebook Components

    17) How much hard drive space do you need; 80GB to 640GB? Do you want a SSD drive?
I've been working with 100GB, so anything above that would be great.

    18) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a CDRW/DVD-ROM, DVD Burner or Blu-Ray drive?
    I don't need blu-ray. I would like a DVD reader/burner.

I found a few on newegg that I would like some input on. Thxinadv.

    1. Newegg.com - MSI CX640-071US Notebook - NVIDIA Optimus increases battery life & performance Intel Core i3 2310M(2.10GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory 500GB HDD DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M
I keep bumping into this one while browsing.

Amazon has a deal where if you buy a PC above 699 with Win 7, you get a free XBOX. There is an ASUS there with a GTX 460m and a 1080p screen for 930. If you would get a free xbox (which you could then sell?) would that work for you?

Don't spend more than $649 (really $599) on a Toshiba Satellite. All Toshiba Satellites have junk screens, and they generally have junk build quality as well. That MSI isn't the best either.

Your best option is right here:
