Wonder if this would work in a P177SM. It would be a decent upgrade for my son in law's 970m which is a bit laggy in FFXIV.

Check to see if the iGPU is on at the same time as the 970M. If it is, then P4000 should work. I see some people using 1060 so P4000 should work too.

Oh, forgot to mention is that I'm eagerly awaiting you to start a thread on the upgrade of the RTX 3000 in your m18x R2. I am purchasing a R2 and would like to do the same.

    M18xR1 best upgrade options:

    780M SLI
    680M SLI
    880M SLI
You can also run single GPUs.

    I recommend 680m SLI.

Sorry it's taking awhile, I will have it up soon.

Please take your time, I was just teasing. I have a long road to upgrades and money.

Now can you explain to me why you suggest 660m rather then the 880m? Are the the 880 faulty or overrated.

I have heard the same about CPUs for the R2. I understand that it is better to go for the 3920XM rather then the 3940xm. The 3920xm over clocks better from what I've read.
