I am still working with @Prema on the BIOS mod. Some loose ends still need to be tied on the firmware, but he is making amazing progress (as expected). @bloodhawk and @Papusan are also helping with that effort, so kudos to both of them.

I also do not have all the parts I need for the heat sink mod, but that will come soon. I still need to find a cheap 7700K for the Tornado F5. I am borrowing the CPU for this project until I can find one for a good price. The used 7700K CPUs on eBay are more expensive than new ones from other places, LOL. The amazing and generous Brother @Jon Webb has sent parts my way that are needed so I can keep that machine functional with the 980M. I don't want to kill one gladiator so another one can live, LOL.

I will create a thread to celebrate the success and include lots of photos showing what I did once the 1080 upgrade is ready for presentation.

If it is as successful as I expect it to be, maybe @Eurocom Support and @Donald@HIDevolution can be a source for the GPU upgrade and those that are ambitious can try to copy my heat sink mod. I did mention this project to Eurocom and HIDevolution is aware of it. If it is not too difficult, maybe one or both can source a vendor to produce a batch of the heat sinks for P870DM-G upgrade kits. Is there anyone in your area that might be able to do that? If so, that would be awesome.

Do you think you could have same use from 1080 radiator for the dm3 machine?

I do not know yet. I have a vapor chamber and a 200W 980 heat sink from @bloodhawk. I am going to see if the vapor chamber even fits in the chassis. I do not know if it will, and if it does, if the PCIe slots may not be aligned. If that will not work I am going to look at using the heat plate from the 16L13 1080, remove the 980 heat plate from the heat sink @bloodhawk gave me and solder that to the 16L13 1080 GPU heat plate. If, for some reason, there is a problem doing that I can use a 980M heat sink and swap the heat plates. Once I have all of the parts here I will begin examining everything and trial fitting to see what might work the best. I also need to test and confirm the Clevo 980M works fine in the 16L13 before I destroy the 1080 heat sink.

Running 980m should not be a problem is ms16l1.

Vapor chamber will not meet the MXM port unfortunately :(

Let me know if you need the T shaped 1080 heatsink to tear and I'll send you one!

I can also send you the Clevo gtx 1080 to test, if you are willing to try to adapt that as well!

P.S. is there a room in the KB BIOS testing lounge? :)

Sure, let me tackle it in stages. If the little MSI 1080 upgrade turns out nice we can ratchet things up a notch and use a Clevo 1080 and build a custom heat sink for that, too. Sounds awesome.

Thank you so much, bro! You generous contribution will put a huge dent in the cost of the 7700K purchase.
