    Just a quick note...

If anyone is interested, the Optiarc PATA Blu-Ray drives have recently been going for less than $100 on eBay. At least three have sold this week. I bought one on Amazon for $160 a couple of weeks ago (should have checked eBay).

There are older posts in this forum detailing how to install it (takes about five minutes).

If this is old news, sorry...

with out a 1920x1200 or 1650x1080 screen upgrade a blue ray drive is largely a waste i would think.

Its a good deal on the drives, but largely a waste of money unless your just trying to whole heartedly embrace the format

For those that do get the drives, be sure to get a player/codec pack that is capable of actually playing Bluray disc's

    True...

I bought a WSXGA+ replacement screen the same week I bought the computer. That's the lowest resolution I would recomend for Blu-Ray playback.

The Arcsoft package seems to be the best bang-for-the-buck in playback software (unless you already have Nero 8, then buy the plug-in).

I hear that the P series has been about the same with the measurements, so could I put this in the P-7805u too?

except for the fact that the 7811 (for sure) 7805/7807 (you would have to check for certain) use SATA drives...
