    Hi guys,

I’ve been reading up on these forums since I’ve ordered an EVOC P870TM1 from HIDevolution. I had to order a laptop before the end of the year for my consulting company and ended up calling them at 4 minutes before closing time on Friday the 29th (another vendor from which I was trying to order a laptop from fell through and showed horrible customer support when trying to order from them).

In the end I’m really happy that it didn’t work out since I managed to talk with @Ted@HIDevolution who recommended the EVOC. I wanted a desktop replacement for deep learning / blockchain testing and of course gaming. He took an hour after closing time to help me select all my components and in the end I went with the following:

EVOC High Performance Systems P870TM1 Custom Built VR Ready Gaming Laptop - 17.3"

    3K QHD
    (2560x1440) AUO 120Hz 5ms with G-Sync Technology

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB GDDR5 X200W + Vapor Chamber Dual GPU Heat Sink - NVIDIA G-Sync Enabled

Prema Custom BIOS - Latest Updated Version once available

Silicon Lottery Binned, Delidded and Tested, Factory Overclocked 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8700K 6 Core-12 Thread Core Processor, 4.7 GHz (HIDevolution Overclocked to 4.9GHz, rated to 5.1GHz)

Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut + Gelid GC Extreme on CPU, Gelid GC Extreme on GPU, and Fujipoly Extreme Thermal Pads on heat sensitive surfaces

32GB (2 x 16GB) G.SKILL Ripjaws Series Dual Channel DDR4/2666MHz (Out of Stock so Corsair Ram will be used)

    RAID 0 - 750GB (3 x 250GB) Samsung 960 EVO M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSD

    1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s Hard Drive

    Killer™ Wireless-AC N1535 ac/a/g/n 2x2 NGFF w/ Bluetooth 4.1

    Genuine Windows® 10 Pro, 64bit, English

The machine should be done and sent early next week and take a week to get here (eastern Canada). I look forward to seeing this beast in person.

Thanks for all the advice everyone has been giving on this forum and will look at enabling @Phoenix modifications once I get the laptop. I’ll also be looking at modding a cooling pad for additional thermal help. :)

I’ll provide updates when I get the laptop :)

Cheers and happy new year to all.

Wow!! Congratulations on this awesome beast man! I see you specced out to the max, just like how I would. Silicon Lottery CPUs FTW! I've had nothing but good experiences with them. Had a 6700K Silicon Lottery last year that used to stay clocked @ 4.6 GHz on all cores up from the stock 4 GHz with very low temps!

Tag me again once you get it so I can hook you up with these tweaks. after I'm done with the tweaks, you will never be able to use a Windows 10 system without them:

1- Uninstallation of all the Windows Store Garbage Apps like 3D Paint, Print 3D, Alarms & Clock, Feedback Hub, Maps, Groove Music, News, Weather, etc.
2- Removing all Windows 10 Privacy Invasion stuff like Telemetry, sending your keystrokes to Microsoft, automatically installing suggested apps in the background, allowing Microsoft to conduct experiments on your laptop, disabling automatic driver updates through Windows updates, disabling Windows 10 ads, disabling Cortana, Cloud Search etc.
3- Removal of nVIDIA and Intel Telemetry
4- Adjusting a lot of options in PC Settings like disabling Windows Tablet Mode (you have a laptop not a tablet), disabling suggestions appearing in the start menu, disabling automatically connecting to Paid WiFi Hotspots, disabling Game DVR which reduced performance in games, and a lot more.
5- Replacing Cortana with a much better search tool that finds results instantly called Everything which finds any file you want as soon as you start typing even a few letters of its name and it doesn't even rely on the Windows Indexing Service to do this!
6- Restoring the classic Windows Photo Viewer
7- Restoring the Classic Windows 7 Start Menu
8- Removal of the new and useless 3D Objects Folder that appears when you open "Computer"
9- Completely disabling Windows Defender from its roots (including all scheduled tasks and startup files) for those who want to install their own AV. ESET NOD32 Antivirus is highly recommended if you want the utmost security with the least system performance impact.

Thanks Pheonix, I look forward to the tweaks ;)

Am update on my order, it was supposed to be ready by Monday evening, but an issue was discovered with the graphic card. As such, they’ve had to reorder a new laptop to replace it (i’m Guessing it’s more the Motherboard connector considering they are replacing the whole thing).

So while it sucks that there will be a delay to get here (I had paid for 5 days rush build), I’m glad that they found the issue before sending the laptop my way and forcing a back and forth to fix any problems I would have encountered. So Pro on the quality control and ensuring top notch products.

I’ll post an update when it ships or when I get further news.

That's exactly why I buy all my laptops from them. They're not into Mickey Mouse business, they have strict quality control You see, I live in Dubai, so imagine if I had to wait for almost a month to get a laptop from X reseller only to discover it has issues out of the box, that would tick me off seriously and I'd have to go through the hassle or returning it and waiting forever to get a replacement unit. I know we all want our new toys fast, but you'd rather wait a bit more and get a quality product that works rathern you having to discover the issues.

good luck man, hope the new laptop reaches you sooner than later.

Yeah, I totally agree, hence why I’m happy they found the issue before shipping it. I was hoping to run a few tests before starting work up again while I still had a bit of time, but would rather know that everything is I tip top shape.

How do you like Dubai? Are you from there originally? I’ve had a few people I know who worked there namely for Hyperloop.

    Yes indeed.

No offense but I don't like any side conversations other than the tweaking. Thanks

No worries, totally understand. I just find Dubai and Neom interesting. :)

I’ll update the thread when I hear back from Hidevolution.

    Thank you for understanding.

When you get your laptop, during the initial setup screen/wizard, you will be asked to connect to your wireless network, press SKIP on the bottom left otherwise you would be forced to login with a Microsoft Account which is a big no no. Then you'd wanna download and install TeamViewer and be ready for the Phoenix Magic

    Hey guys,

So after a few minor setbacks and a last minute tweek on my part (added another ssd so I can have a dedicated Ubuntu drive), my laptop has officially been shipped.

Hidevolution upgraded my shipping option so that I receive the laptop around the same time as my rush build. So I’m quite happy with how things turned out and should be getting it tomorrow.

Thanks again @Ted@HIDevolution for keeping me updated on what was happening and for the shipping upgraded.

I’ll be posting impressions after I get the laptop and will look at running a few benchmarks as well.

@Phoenix I’ll pm you when I get the machine for some of that magic ;)
