Also, would like to add, that after that I was curious about other "combos" and tried F900-F942, F940-F842 and they worked too. So, don't know, what's the basic thing to make it work for other users.

    Rex

    Replace F840 for F940 in Windows 8.1

General rule of thumb is Windows 7= 8xx and Windows 8 = 9xx

Again .. no promises.. all about trial and error with FTC.

My wifi keeps on dropping. I have another desktop PC right next to my Envy and it doesn't have that problem. Also other laptops, my HTPC, tablets and smartphones don't drop wifi signal, it's just my Envy laptop. I've updated wireless driver but still the same. My internet will work then drop and have to cycle it off and on to make it work..

Fellow users, I'm bidding you farewell.

Sent my Envy to HP for repair but its past EOL (end of life) so they don't have the parts to repair. My case got escalated, and they're pretty much just giving me a brand new notebook of my choosing.

If you have a TotalCare Package I recommend you send in your Envy before it expires, ya never know. You might just walk away with some hot new silicon. ;)

    Windows 8.1 Pro 64
    5th generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5500U Dual Core Processor + 4GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M Graphics
17.3-inch diagonal Full HD WLED-backlit Display (1920x1080) Touchscreen
    12GB DDR3L System Memory (2 Dimm)

Blu-ray writer and SuperMulti DVD burner

I sent mine in this past christmas and was offered a low end envy with out dedicated Graphics.... I must have had a stick in the mud rep during my escalation. Either way I have about 6 months left. So i may give it a swing when my baby has a tumble. But so far its been running great for me. Oh and yeah I just swapped out my cpu for a i7-3920xm. Its running great so far.

Yikes, well from the looks of it the Envy brand has become pretty ridiculous. IMO all HP did was rename the dv7 and dv6 laptops to Envy's.

I was initially offered the HP Sprout, but I need a laptop. Doesn't hurt to try again right?

I'm really hoping it comes with a second SATA cable like the 32xx did.

How'd you replace the CPU? I thought they were supposed to be soldered onto the motherboard.
