If I have the 3D, does it matter which Intel driver package I choose from the installation since I'm always running on the Radeon?

You need to install intel anyway. I think. Latest drivers for Windows 7 is Catalyst 14.4 WHQL UnifL v2.4.
Download, run. Click option. Choose intel HD for Iris/Haswell. Also tick: Browse manual installation guide. Click deploy. Installed will unpack drivers to c disk. Before installing remove old drivers. After installing intel drivers. Run installer again, options, click UBR v.7.4. Choose option c. Restart and install Ati drivers.
P.S. Before installing new drivers follow correct procedure to un install old drivers.

    Funk here:

With the 3D version things get a bit tougher.

If you have the newest BIOS and are using Windows 8.1, windows+bios will (from what I understand) hide the Intel card to make 3D possible.

That means no Intel driver is necessary and you are only using AMD.

If you are on Windows 7 and want/need "3D" you will want to stick with 14.4 UnifL. The modern Intel driver should be configured to handle proper switching for your laptop. AMD 14.4 is the last "fixed" switching driver.

Now if you do not care about fixed switching and 3D. Just install the latest Intel + AMD.

Our certificate doesn't currently work with 14.12 +Windows 7 so you could just install the official 14.12 drivers and see how it works out.

anyway to just use my 7850 graphics and not the Intel? I've lost switchable graphics option trying to fix the stupid dimming/brightness issue because of Windows 8.1. I'm close to smashing this laptop to pieces and just get a new one, or an MBP.

Has anyone used their Total Care pack to send in their 32XX series for service?

I had an argument about the terms of the package with one of their very helpful support people. /s

    Don't sweat.

You are better off without switchable graphics for Windows 8.1 and 10.

Be glad that HPs newest BIOS block Intel on the newer versions when they detect 8.1.

I would love to have what you have on my Envy 17 2xxx.

Yeah I have been dying to get a hold of this ACPI table so I can .. idk .. figure out how to implement it haha.

I really really really want to have this on the Envy 17 2xxx 3D.

    From what I understand:

Newest Envy 17 3xxx 3D BIOS switches off/ hides Intel when it detects Windows 8. This isn't the case with older BIOS versions.

If someone manages to confirm this and maybe help me out with the table I would be eternally grateful.

At the moment I cannot do 3D on Windows 8.1 because all new AMD drivers are dynamic switching. HP obviously thought ahead :D.
