I posted this question in Windows forum and got crickets. Has anyone managed to enable self-encryption feature on their SSD? If so, please do share the knowledge :)

for now, all SSD manufacturer ask you to use SW encryption and not TCG Opal 2.x and above. It seems there was exploit that bypassed hardware encryption. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ne...r-ssd-drives-bypass-hardware-disk-encryption/
Employ Veracrypt if you intend to use your disk across various platforms.

Yeah, I'm aware of this issue, but the problem is more on the bitlocker side. Opal management software is supposed to implement pre-boot authentication and proper key management. I was wondering if someone explore this more, e.g. by using something like WinMagic.

Also, it's annoying that enabling Bitlocker SED feature on the 970 EVO Plus is a one way street which discourages experiments (not to mention that it would require a secure wipe).
