    Hey all,
EC firmware looks like it's a part of the bios and helps set cpu clock states. Not something I don't need to mess with I assume?

BIOS and EC are stored in different flash chips. EC controls peripheral functions such as keyboard, lights, power functions, fan functions, etc. It should not be messed with because it can cause a system no longer usable. If you have a SPI programmer you may be able to restore it.
