are there any easy ways to find specs of old laptops (like from 2013-2014)?

some or maybe most laptops have many different models/versions, this makes everything extremely complicated and not really worthwhile

like are there any easy to find the specific display tech being used?
or is there no easy way?

for example if it says 'led', there's different display tech that uses 'led', so how would you know which display tech it's using?

or is it just better to just get a new model directly from the laptop makers? like apple, microsoft, etc
since info on old laptops would be very hard to find it seems?

I always Google the model and look at the review on https://www.notebookcheck.net/.

I still love my Haswell Clevo P375SM from around that time. Still looks new. Issue is battery life and heat compared to newer tech. Otherwise it still holds up.

Use notebookcheck.net, as already mentioned. I personally see no point purchasing a machine from that era, even when you are on a budget.

Depends on what they want to do. For basic internet usage and word processing my 2007 acer 7720 is useable completely, since windows supports it. Unlike my 2007 apple macbook that is now a paperweight. Even apple are refusing to let me download software I purchased from them. Never AGAIN. Apple computers are crap.
