    Hi there,

Apologies if this is a stupid question - I'm very rubbish at computer hardware problems!

I have a Dell Latitude E6400 and am extremely happy with it as I've had no major problems with it so far (touch wood), but just last week, the screen started to go dim and then bright, really annoyingly.

I can tell it must be to with the sensor thing below the screen as when I put my finger over it, it goes dimmer.

I think it must have become oversensitive recently because all I have to do is lean forward slightly as I'm typing and the screen gets visibly dimmer.

Is there a manual way of controlling the screen brightness?

    K

I agree that the ambient light sensor is over-sensitive.

Press Fn + cursor left to enable / disable the ambient light sensor.

Press Fn + cursor up / down to manually control the display brightness.
