I had to do a System Recovery on my Gateway 8510GZ. I have reinstalled all the programs that I had except that the driver for the Adaptec ACS-100 IDE external HDD enclosure will not install again.

I have only had this problem before with a Timex Trainer installation cd. It only worked the first time I installed it. I solved that by downloading the program from Timex.com.

I cannot even find the product I purchased on the Adaptec website. Everytime that I attempt to register the product I purchased, I get the Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage page.

I did not register the product 2 years ago when I bought it. Does that mean that my opportunity to register it has passed?

If my one year warranty has expired, does that mean that I cannot get Tech Support?

I know, most of you are thinking, "Why did he not have his system backed up?". The answer, I didn't know any better.

    Please, I need help.

EDITED: It is very tempting just to toss this enclosure and get a new one, but I believe that I paid $30-$50 for it at Best Buy 2 years ago.

Strange, all HDD enclosures I have are not required any driver and from its userguide, it is not required a driver if you are not using Windows 98se too.

By the way, you should first get in Device manager (Control Panel >> system >> device manager) then plug this HDD encloser in and see if it appears on the list or not.

So, the CD's that come with external enclosures are not drivers, they are user guides.

I got it to work. I swithed the jumper configuration.
