Yes, most retail movie DVDs are encrypted to prevent duplication. The Mac OS X version of HandBrake will decrypt them. However, I would recommend you first rip the DVD to your hard drive with MacTheRipper. The Windoze version of HandBrake does not decrypt DVDs so you would need to use something like DVD Decrypter.

And you should note that some movie companies are beginning to include a digital copy on the DVD:

Handbrake added the movie to my desktop, I dragged into my itunes library, but it didn'y sync, said my ipod could not play this video. Any thoughts?

So you encourage people to partake in illegal activities (breaking the encryption does violate the DMCA in the US), yet we're not allowed to discuss perfectly legal activities such as unlocking the iPhone?

Please, SauronMOS. I have stated this many times. This is not my policy. If you want to bring it up, I am not the person to talk to, it is my superior, Chaz. I only enforce as I am told. Please understand.

They need to find a line and stick to it. You can talk about copying DVDs and not no cd patching games?

Sauron calm down. It's not his fault. Believe me your not the only one that thinks it's stupid we can't talk about unlocking the iPhone. But you don't have to take it out on Sam. As he has told you many times, talk to Chaz about it.

Lysander, if you would like, make that same comment to Chaz, directly. He won't see it here, it seems directed to me, and I have explained many times already. If you want to see a difference, bring it up, or please don't complain on the forums.
