The $1 Wheel/brake cleaner is practically degreaser with a slightly different formula. Its got some silicone stuff IIRC.

It hear it eats chrome if used excessively... but then again brake dust also turns corrosive overtime if you dont clean your wheels at all.

I wash my wheels by hand, one thing ive learnt is not to get mesh wheels with too many spokes, its a pain in the bum to clean.

also the cheap tyre shine cans work really well for me.

    $1,000 per rim!?

I've had several cars where the entire vehicle - four rims, plus tires, a body, and a motor, cost less than $1,000.

1k for wheels? Here's a little guide on how to become the boss with 1/2 hour and a couple rattle cans of paint. ;)

First lets mask the tires off, sand, then begin spraying our primer.

Let it dry and apply some finish coat.

Pull of masking and have sexy wheels for 10$ and half an hour of time. :D

Yeah, I was rolling with 2 hub caps for a while but then I lost the 3rd and it just looked to weird, so I popped the last one off and painted them all.
