Does having reseller apply thermal paste (HID/gentechPC) still void warranty?

Looking at getting a MSI stealth. Both these resellers offer liquid metal, with HID even labeling it their suggested option. However I've read many times LM will void warranties. Seems strange these resellers would be voiding manufacturer warranties without disclosing that on the LM option. Or does it not void it so long as it's done by the reseller and not on your own? Thanks for any help clearing this up.

    A valid concern.
You get warranty through the resellers and if they offer an upgrade it would seem logical for them to support it. It has been said by @Donald@HIDevolution that they never had a problem with it but should the need arise, they back it up. I don't remember seeing that claim explicitly by GenTechPC but would assume it's the same deal (contact @GenTechPC/@Kevin@GenTechPC)

Just to elaborate a bit on Arondel's correct post.

For example, let's say you get a delidded intel CPU where the IHS has been removed and re-attached with Liquid Metal now in between, that action has voided the warranty with intel. So within the warranty period, if you have problems with the CPU going bad, you will not be able to go to intel for a warranty replacement. However, since you have a warranty with the reseller, you would contact them for the replacement of the defective CPU.

    Hope that example makes sense.

Thanks for the responses. I have confirmed that both HID and gentech can apply LM without voiding the warranty since they are accredited resellers.

Thank goodness for clearing this up, I am also concerned about the same thing. In my country, there are only a handful of individuals who offer LM repasting and practically all of them give out disclaimers that they would not be held liable if something goes wrong.

That's correct, any modifications does not void the warranty, thank you. :)
