Engadget and the like don't count ;) (for obvious reasons :p)

So simple yes/no question: Do you follow the news?

If yes, what kind of news are you usually up with? Local? National? International?

I just find it a bit sad that some people are savvy on Brad Pitt's latest marital status yet don't know what's going on in Syria or what happened in Lybia.

I'm a news junkie so yes I know and like to keep up on what's going on in Syria, Libya,Yemen, Egypt, Israel, and the EU. Can't tell you Brad Pitt's marital status.

If we're talking hard news--national/international politics, international relations, foreign affairs, and some state politics, then yes, I follow it quite closely. If we're talking about random local news and entertainment news, not at all.

And if we're talking about tech news... well ;)

Well maybe not follow, but it's always nice to keep in touch with happenings in your region/town, especially if those are major happenings not just local crime or the local bingo tournament :p

For example knowing that one of the major bridges in the area (and the most used bridge in the country for that matter D: ) had structural problems was nice to follow up on

I think the news is fun...so yeah pretty much follow all of it at all levels. I'm a polisci major (inb4 lock for mentioning it!) so maybe I might be biased in my level of interest :p

    Ignorance isn't bliss. ;)

I keep up with national/international news. Local news not so much (another murder/robbery in DC, nothing of extreme interest).

I follow the news...though I'd never admit that here because bringing up anything even remotely related to current events (beyond the scope of the latest celebrity weddings) will get you nothing but infractions.

    IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH, right guys?

(note to the mods: I know it's not your fault. Your corporate overlords suck, that's all)

When I have spare time, I check and see what's trending on Twitter or watch some Al-Jazeera from my app on my phone. Otherwise that's about it. O_O
