Did ASUS fit crap speakers and screen to some UK N56s?

I recently bought an ASUS N56VM to replace my previous ASUS N56JN and the N56VZ prior to that (yes, I like the model), only to be quite disappointed with the sound and screen quality. I'm aware that ASUS fitted IPS screens to the JN variant of the N56 and TN screens to the V variants, but my previous VZ didn't look as horribly nuked with terrible viewing angles as this one. Also when I looked inside, the speakers on this new one are visibly different from both the JN and the VZ, lacking an extra ridge in the foil cones and weighing 45 grams instead of 60 grams. My question is this: did ASUS really fit terrible screens and speakers to some (?) UK spec N56s, or do I maybe have knock offs on my hands?

It could be that they've sourced the components from several OEMs - for example most laptops have 2-4 different keyboard designs in the same model depending on who the OEM is.

You can use AIDA64 to find the display code. Wouldn't surprise me if Asus did this.

HWinfo gives the panel as the LG Philips LP156WF1, which I *think* is a legit panel that was fitted to some ASUS N56s - but damn it looks terrible. Really doesn't seem like my old VZ at all, let alone the JN.
