Development laptop Recommendations

    I recently purchased an HP DV9200 laptop 2 GB memort, 320 GB hard disk. Sent it back after three repairs were carried out on it :mad: , HP has agreed to refund me the money :D and now I am looking for another development laptop. NO HP laptops.

    I would also like to hear from other software/web developers on the type of laptops they are using.

    1) What is your budget?
    maximum of £1600

    2) What size notebook would you prefer?
    Prefer 17” would consider 16”

    4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
    NO HP brands please

    5) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
    Software Development

    6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
    I will be travelling with the laptop to only 1 or 2 places.

    7) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
    Not a game enthusiast

    8) How many hours of battery life do you need?
    Would prefer at least 2 hrs

    9) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?

    10) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista), Mac OS, Linux, etc.

    at least 200gb

    Could you live with 15.4"? If yes, you may look at the Thinkpad T61 or for 17" there is a Dell Vostro 1700.

    Dell looks good, I could live with a 15" but would prefer 17"
