I've had that exact problem with a different laptop, particularly noticeable when walking around with the laptop open. A few screws at the display just worked themselves loose. I didn't blue have lock-tite at the time which I think is a good add (and was used by the factory on that unit) but the problem never returned.

What I wish to see in next XPS 15 incarnation.

    • QHD Mate display option (a balance between battery live and pixel density, I wont really see a difference between 4k and QHD with my eyes on a 15.6 inch screen, but I will see a diffrence in battery live for sure)
    • Nvidia 1060m
    • 1-2 tb ssd drive option. 256 looks really outdated now, even phones have that amount of memory. We need a step up in this department. At least 1 tb should be there. Or maybe one extra msata port
    • 32 gigs of RAM option (I would go for it)
    • Other colors maybe?
    • Solution for webcamera - you should do a sliding out little web camera on top of the display, that would solve it
    • Fast charging option
    • Maybe one extra usb-c port (they are small)?

I would love to buy such a machine

So I'm currently using the Dell 2715 monitor which is not 4k but rather uses 2560x1440. I've connected it to my 4k Dell XPS 15 using the thunderbolt docking station. It works as far as displaying/extending my laptop display but it's not retaining the high quality resolution on the Dell 2715 monitor. I have to log off and back in again in order to have proper crisp resolution. I've used the settings to set DPI and resolution to each display, but that still doesn't seem to help - still forced to log off, then back in again. It's very frustrating and now I'm regretting not having purchased a 4k Monitor.

Any work arounds to help resolve this?

    Thanks

I wonder if the fast ring anniversary build has sorted this?

I'm on it- and no. Some UI elements that haven't been programmed to scale well still have problems.

oh well I think that's it for the update, just a few bug fixes to go now. Updated to the new build overnight and it is rather good but I still got the BSOD 2 days ago on the previous build so no chipset update!

I wish we could update BIOS modules like I can on my Asus R5E board as I run newer Raid/AHCI modules on that to stop it dropping drives.

Yeah I was getting bsods without Samsung drivers. Shame! Thought it was the razer core causing it, but it was the ahci crap again
