Gore tex is an insulator. It's been used for a long time in high end jackets because it insulates well and also repels water. Dell is using it to keep the heat from soaking into the case/keyboard and provide a better end user experience.

Well sadly I think I'm going to return the 9575 to Dell. I like the system quite a bit and may get one with 16gb of ram down the road, but Dell wants $1700 bucks for it, that seems nuts. We will see if something pops up in the outlet for a reasonable price. Any benches someone wants me to run before I send it back?

So mainly because of the memory restriction? I am still waiting to see progress on my supposedly shipped 9575. But I have the i7/16gb model. Once ebates completes the cash back, it will have cost just under 1500, but thats with 2 year warranty.

Yeah mainly the 8gb. I am also pretty disappointed in the AMD drivers as well, but I could live with that I suppose. It's hard to justify the extra 300 bucks prior to coupons to get the 9575 vs the 9570...

Ridiculous to sell a device with 8gb of soldered max ram in 2018 for well over 1000 USD

Well sadly I setup a return for the 9575 and ordered a 9570. I have a feeling I will miss this keyboard more than anything, lol. I just can't justify $1799 to go with the 9575 and 16gb of ram, that's nuts. I could get a Razer 15" for that price.

Figure I'll bump this back up. I do miss the keyboard of the 9575, probably my favorite part about the laptop.

You know, it's actually not bad at all. I do find it fatiguing though.
