This unfortunately is a downgrade to the 9370 for me.

    - IR Camera far better than fingerprint sensor (and yes the 9370 has both)
    - They had to increase top bezel thickness to incorporate the cam there. For something like this that is frustrating because I think I speak for the majority when I say that not only do most not use this, when we do use this, we probably don't really care if the angle is a bit off. Most of us aren't modelling ourselves I presume!
    - Whiskey Lake CPU added, yet no BT 5.0, no better WiFi (still the same Killer 1435 Wifi)? This was the main reason I was looking forward to this version, so we can rid that crap card and take advantage of the integrated WiFi controller of the Whiskey Lake chips.

    Fail, fail, fail.

Actually the nose cam is one of the biggest complaints from every reviewer and many users. If you actually use the webcam then having it in a normal location is a huge deal. In fact it was one of my reasons to get rid of the 9570 and keep the X1...

I have little to no faith in reviewers to actually provide useful insights when it comes to laptops. At this point, all I want are disassembly photos and long term benchmark data. I can somewhat trust them to do that, sometimes. Even NBC has a tendency to do silly things in their Thinkpad reviews, including a famous one where they bypassed power restrictions on the T480s because they felt it was doable, and presented that as their T480s performance data (without providing "stock" performance data).

So when they complain a webcam (which I never use - yay, more anecdotes!) is unflattering, it's just more aggregation of opinions.

Why do you need 32GB RAM on a thin 15W CPU laptop again? Makes no sense.

If you have a workflow which truly benefits from 32GB RAM (you'd be in the <0.1%), the XPS isn't the correct machine in the first place.

If you think you need 32GB RAM because you are seeing 14 GB RAM being utilised, that is just how RAM works, the more you have, the more it will use regardless if you need to or not for maximum performance. This doesn't mean you'd benefit in any real sense of having 32GB RAM. You can use up 30 GB RAM with enough Chrome tabs if you really want to, but it doesn't mean a thing.

I ordered one last week from the Dell website, 9380 with FHD non-touch screen, 16gb RAM, new "frost" color. I'm supposed to receive it by Feb. 7th. I'll update with my impressions when I do.

I'm super excited about the new XPS. Please report back once you get it - I'd like some first hand input. :)
