In the network setup wizard it says that the mini card is disconnected. I have an inspiron e1405 notebook. I set the restore point back to before I tried setting up a home network and I cannot connect to the internet to see if it need drivers updated. The connection won't repair itself either. I don't know what else to try since I can't get on the internet with that notebook. Any ideas?

I'm sorry but I'm not sure what you are asking about the Ethernet.

No, I can't get it to connect in any way. When I search for wirelss networks it says I need to use the Wireless Zero Configuration service which I did and it still didn't get online-it keeps showing that message. When I troubleshot the mini card it says it is working fine but the Network Wizard says it is disconnected so now I don't know what to do.

By ethernet pixelot means when you connect your laptop to the router via a cat 5 cable. We are just trying to isolate the issue.

I just connected it to my modem with the ethernet cable and it said it cannot connect. I clicked repair but it still didn't work.

When I run the network setup wizard it says my mini card is disconnected but I have no idea how to fix that or if it can be fixed so the wizard won't finish setup. When I ran the troubleshooter for the mini card-it said it was fine.

If you have connect the ethernet cable to your router and you still don;t get internet then is your router setup tha's causing the issue. When you go to your device manager, do you have "!" besides the ethernet and wireless adapters?

So, why are you connecting your laptop directly into the modem????? Can't you connect it on one of the ehternet ports just to see if you get internet?

I was trying to see if it would connect that way. I connected it to the router with the ethernet and it won't connect or repair itself.

In which case it would seem the problem is limited to this particular computer. Other computers can connect to the router, but this one can't, either via ethernet or wireless.

Just to further troubleshoot, are there any other public wifi locations where you could test and see if you can connect? I'm not an expert, but maybe your router doesn't want to assign an IP address to this computer for a reason.

I tried to connect at a hotspot and the same thing-no connection and wouldn't repair itself. Still said the same thing when I searched for wireless connection-start to Windows Zero Congfiguration which I already have done and it changes nothing.

Have you tried to have windows to manage the link?

Go to view wireless networks, change advanced settings, wireless networks, and check windows configurate.....
