Just popped up by default at that resolution for me, with a Dell 4K monitor attached...

So, that's by using the HDMI port on the back? Interesting. as I can't get that (4K@30) with my 980M either through that HDMI port or through the DP port via an adapter.

I wonder if vBIOS might be a problem or the modded inf file settings or perhaps even Windows 7.

Yeah, IDK. It was via the rear HDMI port. However, this is with the K5000M, I have not tried it since I installed the M5000M with modded driver. (Don't have a 4K display sitting around at home.)

Hmm, might be related to the 980M card I'm using as I've read on some other forum that supposedly the 980M MXM card doesn't have a direct HDMI output or something like that.

I've ordered a third DP to HDMI adapter, this time the 4K one from CableMatters which is mentioned to be working with Oculus Rift on several forums where users had similar bandwidth issues. Hopefully this will work.

Pascal cards do not work in this laptop, unless you happen to have the IPS display version.

Just to confirm that the CableMatters 4K DP->HDMI adapter solved my problem.

So, if anybody else is using the 980M in M6700 and wants to use Oculus Rift, it needs to be connected via DP port as the 980M doesn't seem to offer a direct HDMI output which the Rift requires (at least on my IPS M6700).

    Hi, guys.
I am new here with some questions. Now I have offers for second hand m6700 (500 euro) and m6800 (700 euro). Both are with GPU k3000m/k3100m, i7-3740QM / i7-4800MQ, 2 x 8 GB RAM. I have read so much about these two machines so far. In many ways they are the same. I work mostly with Adobe products - Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro and After Effects. What do you think? M6700 or M6800 and why?

    Thank you in advance :)

The m6600 and m6800 motherboards look identical in a side by side comparison. Does anyone know if I can replace my m6600 motherboard with an m6800 board?
If it fits then I can have a 4th gerneration cpu and chipset, for around $160. USD.

Not sure why you posted this in the M6700 thread, but...
There are enough subtle differences in the board layout and in the chassis between generations that prevent a motherboard swap. You would have to purchase a M6800 chassis in addition to the motherboard. Many other components could be transferred over.
