That's like 1.150V in total? IIRC, with Prema vBIOS and 1.062V it was mentioned that it could draw up to 140W. So, with that much extra voltage, it could get really high I guess.

Honestly, I would be surprised if the 240 W PSU proved inadequate. The 240 W PSU was used for Alienware models with similar specs, so I wouldn't be too worries. Also, that PSU was meant to go with the fully loaded config including a beefier CPU which in turn gives you more headroom as the i7-3720qm will definitely have lower power draw than a 3920 xm.

Yeah, but it's still at 45W TDP (compared to up to 55W on the XM). And I can only guess at how much this overvolted 980M draws, but let's say up to 150W(?) . Plus RAM, disk drives, mainboard, maybe LCD, maybe some USB devices.. And perhaps the PSU is older and can't provide the full power anymore.

It's not that far fetched and from the description, the PSU does shut itself down which happens when the current drawn is too high.

Hi, I'm planning to upgrade my M6700 regular screen to the PremierColor IPS screen and would like to know if the motherboard connectors are the same? I understand you need 2 cables, primary and secondary RGB but do they all use the same M6700 motherboard... Thanks.

The regular display and the IPS display use two different display connectors, but they are both available on the motherboard. Also, pretty sure that an NVIDIA GPU is required to use the IPS display (but that could have been a restriction just in the M6600).

Yes I am aware that the connector on the display is different but are you 100% sure that the motherboard connection is the same because the PremiereColor IPS uses 2 cables: Primary RGB & Secondary RGB these 2 and so are you sure they fit on all M6700 motherboards:

Also mine have Nvidia Quadro so that is not a problem..

I was referring to the motherboard connector. The screens use two different motherboard connectors. The M6700 has both connectors on the motherboard.

Well I fixed my issue with my k4100m the ips screen and primer-color software. Seems it was just a driver issue.
I did a complete uninstall then installed the oldest driver I could find on the nividia page for a k4100m
    Which was
    (362.77) June 15, 2016
So somewhere between then and here it seems to have lost compatibility.
There is a 7-8% performance gain with the newest driver for this card but honestly I can live without it as long as everything works ok.

I'm thinking about buying an M6700 with nVidia video so I can run Optimus because I don't like the battery life I get with AMD on my M6600. The 4000M supports Optimus, but does the 3000M? I'm no gamer, and the most I do is some Photoshop work and YouTube videos.

    Thanks!
